Moving on together
- volunteer training programme
The Friendship Centre would not be able to survive
without the very generous help we receive from our volunteers. As a thank
you we make sure that we provide our volunteers with training they might
need to return to the workplace.
Our training has enabled many people to gain confidence
in their abilities and we have assisted in the majority of them entering
further training and college courses. We helped 80 people gain qualifications
last year.
The success of our training programme has led to us
being provided funding from Awards for All - a grant scheme run by the
National Lottery. The has allowed us to develop our successful training
programme over the next twelve months.
Ten voluneers have already successfully completed
food safety training, eight people have attended an art course and three
first aid at work qualifications have been achieved. We have also funded
courses in customer service, bicycle maintenance and IT and Internet for
beginners.
This funding was received in partnership with Hermitage
Housing residents who applied for the funding on behalf of the Friendship
Centre to actively demonstrate their support for the centre's worthwhile
work.
